What is the CPS test and why is it important for gamers?

The CPS test (Clicks Per Second) is an online measurement tool used by gamers to calculate their mouse click speed. Being able to click quickly is a crucial skill in competitive games, especially for PvP (Player versus Player) on Minecraft servers or in shooting games (FPS).

A good CPS score gives you an edge over your opponent, or allows you to place blocks faster. Our tool offers precise timers (from 1 to 100 seconds) so you can practice without lag or intrusive ads.

How to use our click speed test?

Using our CPS test is very simple:

1. Choose a test duration (1, 5, 10, 60, or 100 seconds). The 10-second test is the most commonly used for a reliable result. The 1-second test measures your peak speed, while the 100-second test checks your endurance.

2. Click on the test area. The timer starts automatically on the first click — no need to press a "Start" button.

3. Click as quickly as possible until the time is up. Your CPS score, the total number of clicks, and your rank will be displayed instantly.

Score (CPS) Rank Description 0 - 5 CPS 🐢 The Turtle You are discovering the keyboard and mouse. It's slow, but everyone starts somewhere! 6 - 9 CPS 🧑‍💻 The Player The global average. You are a regular user and a casual gamer. 10 - 14 CPS 🐆 The Cheetah (Pro) Competitive level. You likely master Jitter Click or Butterfly click. 15+ CPS 🤖 Auto-Clicker / Hacker Superhuman speed requiring specific equipment (Drag Click) or assistance.

Clicking techniques to improve your CPS

There are several methods to click faster. Each has its advantages and disadvantages depending on the game you play. Here are the four main techniques used by professional players:

Regular Click — The classic method with a single finger. It offers the best aiming precision and allows you to reach 5-8 CPS. Ideal for games shooting where aim accuracy is more important than raw speed.

The Jitter Click — Technique intermediate which consists of stiffening one's forearm to generate rapid tremors. Allows you to reach 10-14 CPS but requires practice to maintain correct aim. This is the most popular technique on Kohi and Hypixel servers.

The Butterfly Click — The queen method of Minecraft PvP players. She uses two fingers (index and middle) alternately on the left button, reaching 15-20+ CPS. Consult our complete guide in the article How to click faster.

The Drag Click — The technique more extreme. By sliding your finger across the button, the grip produces very high frequency clicks (30+ CPS). Requires a compatible mouse — check out the best mice for CPS.

Why practice CPS regularly?

Regular click test training has several concrete benefits for gamers:

Muscle memory — As with aiming (test our Aim Trainer), clicking speed improves with repetition. By training 5-10 minutes a day, you develop automatisms which are transferred directly to the game.

Competitive advantage — In Minecraft PvP, the difference between 7 CPS and 12 CPS is huge: you deal 70% more damage and significantly reduce knockback opponent. On servers like Hypixel Bedwars or Kohi, this difference separates average players from competitors.

Warming up before ranked games — Pro players use the CPS test as a 5-minute warm-up before entering ranked. Combine it with a reaction time test to be at your best.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the world record for clicks per second? +
The world record for click speed is generally accepted to be around 14 to 16 CPS for normal methods. However, with advanced techniques like drag clicking and specific gaming mice, players can reach and exceed 20 Clicks Per Second.
How to improve your CPS? +
To improve your score, you can learn new clicking techniques like Jitter Click (vibrating your arm), Butterfly Click (alternating two fingers on the left click), or use a lighter gaming mouse with reactive mechanical switches.
Quelle est la moyenne mondiale de CPS ? +
