How to click faster with your mouse? The ultimate guide (CPS)

If you play competitive games like Minecraft (PvP) or shooter games requiring a semi-automatic weapon, you have probably already heard of the term CPS (Clicks Per Second). It is the standard unit of measurement for how fast a player can click a mouse button.

Having a good CPS (above 10) gives huge advantages: taking the initiative in combat, reducing recoil due to enemy hits (Knockback), or building bridges in record time (Godbridging).

The conventional method (Regular Click)

The classic click is done with a single finger, usually the index finger. The goal here is not to tense your hand, but to use the natural flexibility of the finger. Most players get between 5 and 8 CPS with this method. The main advantage is to keep perfect precision (aim/tracking).

The Jitter Click

This is the transition technique. Jitter Click involves stiffening your forearm completely to generate rapid tremors (controlled spasms). These tremors are transmitted to the finger resting on the left button. This technique easily reaches 10 to 14 CPS, but it is very tiring and can deteriorate your aim until you master it.

The Butterfly Click

Today it is the queen of fast methods. It involves using two fingers (index and middle) and hitting the left button alternately, like the wings of a butterfly. Coupled with the mechanical Double Clicking phenomenon of some mice, it allows you to exceed 15 to 20 CPS with relative ease compared to Jitter.

The Drag Click

Reserved for mice with a matte surface (or equipped with Grip Tape), the Drag Click consists of sliding your finger over the button. The friction makes the finger bounce at a very high frequency. It is the king method for Bridging in Minecraft, allowing bursts of more than 30+ CPS over one or two seconds.

Conclusion

To click faster, practice is key. Choose the method that works with your mouse and your game, then practice daily on our CPS Test. Listen to your body: if you feel pain in your arm, take a break immediately to avoid tendonitis!
